Homemade Lasagna

I lived in Italy for ten years and I love Italian food. In fact, I seem to love more every day. This lasagna recipe is one of my favorites.

Ingredients

8 ounces Italian ham, chopped

8 ounces of pasta cooked lasagna noodles

16 oz can peeled tomatoes, chopped

1 cup ricotta

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 pound mozzarella, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, chopped

1 pound lean beef

4 tbsp. freshChopped basil

4 garlic cloves, minced or crushed

1 / 4 tsp. Oregano

ground black pepper

1 / 2 cup dry white wine

2 tbsp. Olive oil

fresh basil to garnish the branches

1) The noodles according to package directions or until firm tender, but still. Drain and keep warm.

2) For the sauce, in a large cast iron pot or skillet, over medium heat, sauté garlic, onion and ham in olive oil for 4 minutes. Add the beef, oregano, aPinch of black pepper and sauté 10 minutes. Add wine and cook until wine is almost evaporated. Tomato and basil, can reduce heat and simmer the sauce for 35 to 40 minutes or until most liquid has evaporated.

3) Grease a 9 "x 12" or larger baking pan. Make a first layer of lasagne sheets, a layer of meat and prosciutto tomato sauce, ricotta, Parmesan and mozzarella. Add a second alternating layer of pasta, sauce and other ingredients. Repeat until pancomplete at the end with a sauce layer. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake in preheated oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil.
